Here at the Beach Channel we try and guide you to the best of the best. And what's one way to be the best? By taking care of ourselves. Recently we went to a dermatologist and learned all the ins and outs of basic skin care but the Holy Grail was emphasized to an extreme and that is….Sunscreen.
Sunscreen and Sunblock can definitely be “annoying” and “smelly” but the benefits out way the negatives, 10 fold. The biggest myth that has been spread over the years is that you only need sunscreen and sunblock when you are at the pool or beach. Luckily over time we have gained more knowledge and understanding that protection for our skin is needed in our daily skin routine and not only for the prevention of skin cancer either.
Our skin is weakened every time it is exposed to UV radiation. Once your skin weakens it breaks, cracks, chaps and this is when wrinkles and sunspots tend to set in. Sunscreen and Sunblock blocks all this from happening especially when reapplication happens often as well. Now, the cosmetics industry is a multi-billion dollar industry trying to rid their patients of signs of aging and give them a more youthful appearance and the number one thing in which they recommend is sunscreen and sunblock for not only prevention, but maintenance.
Now, obviously one of the more serious concerns would be developing skin cancer but the good thing is early detection of skin cancer is possible and treatable by seeing a dermatologist once a year for a skin exam. Don’t wait!
